Deschutes Recycling and Knott Landfill will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in observance of Independence Day.

The facilities will re-open on Thursday, July 5th at 7:00 a.m.

Newport Ave. Market Offers ReGrow Compost Bags for Sale

Newport Ave. Market kicked off the Memorial Day weekend by offering customers a free bucket of Deschutes Recycling's ReGrow compost to take home and sample.

Newport Ave.Market is our newest outlet offering cubic foot bags of ReGrow compost for sale.

ReGrow compost is made from locally recycled yard trimming, recycled food and vegetable trimmings.

Newport Ave. Market has been participating in the commercial food waste program with Cascade Disposal. "We are absolutely thrilled to bring the composting program full circle by offering the exclusive ReGrow compost," said Rudy Dory, Owner of Newport Avenue Market.

"The initial response to our ReGrow Compost product has been much more successful than we ever imagined," Brian Stone, Deschutes Recycling Operations Manager.  "People in this area recognize the importance of organic matter in their garden mix and are excited to purchase a product that is produced locally and completes the recycling circle."

ReGrow compost will provide the benefits of water retention and nutrients, requiring less water and fertilizer and enabling plants and blooms to grow larger and faster and resist disease.

Deschutes Recycling & Knott Landfill Closed Memorial Day

Deschutes Recycling and Knott Landfill will be closed on Monday, May 28, 2012 in observance of Memorial Day.

Please remember Deschutes Recycling, Knott Landfill and all Transfer Stations are closed Sundays.

The facilities will re-open on Tuesday, May 29^th at 7:00 a.m.

Free Yard Debris Recycling

Residents can recycle their yard debris for free at Knott Landfill during the FireFree event going on Friday, May 4 – Saturday, May 12, closed Sunday.   

Knott Landfill is located at 61050 SE 27th Street, Bend.

Yard debris must be clean; no rocks, dirt, garbage or plastic bags. For more information on FireFree and additional locations for free yard debris recycling, visit www.firefree.org.

The Organics Booth at Deschutes Recycling is now open for the season.

Get some compost for your lawn and garden projects. We offer delivery or self-haul.

Deschutes Recycling offers locally produced compost products that will fit your needs. Our newest product is ReGrow compost which contains 50% food based compost, which enhances most nutrients, especially nitrogen.

Earth Day Celebration

Join Deschutes Recycling at this years Earth Day Fair and Procession of the Species put on by the Environmental Center. The event will be held on Saturday April 21, 2012 from 11:00am - 3:00pm on Kansas Avenue in Bend, in front of the Environmental Center.

The event will feature interactive displays, art, live music and great hands-on activities for all ages. The event kicks off with the Procession of the Species parade with children and adults costumed as their favorite species. For more information, visit www.envirocenter.org.
